Tom Nichols

CO-OWNER/HOST OF ASK YOUR NEIGHBOR

In 1980, Tom and wife, Polly, established KWXI AM, the first station in Glenwood and Pike County, Arkansas, and later added KWXE FM. In 1994, Tom and Polly launched KVRE 92.9 FM in Hot Springs Village, AR. Tom and Polly ran all three stations, eventually selling KWXI and KWXE.

Polly Nichols

CO-OWNER/CO-HOST OF SCOTTY & POLLY SHOW

Polly is a native of Hot Springs, Arkansas, where she was active in drama during high school and received a scholarship to TCU. Polly is credited for her dream of KVRE 92.9, originating in 1994, where she has served as General Manager and Sales Manager.

Alice Bates

KVRE GENERAL MANAGER

Alice was born for radio, literally. The daughter of Tom and Polly Nichols, she is a native of Hot Springs and graduated from Glenwood High School. Alice is a proud Arkansan. After living in Dallas for over 10 years, Alice moved back to Arkansas to help her mom and dad help run KVRE and do what she can to help her community. She and her husband, Dennis, have lived in Hot Springs Village since 2003.  Alice’s daughter Alyssa attended Jessieville School and Graduated from The University of Central Arkansas with her BSN in Nursing and is a Postpartum Labor and Delivery Nurse at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.  If you know Alice, you know that she loves to sparkle and to those that know her has the nickname of “Sparkles”

Tracy Simpson

HOST OF THE MORNING SHOW/TRACK TALK WITH TRACY/COLOR COMMENTATOR FT. LAKE FOOTBALL

If you listen to Tracy in the morning, you feel like you already know him! Tracy may have been born in Texas, but by all accounts he is a true Arkansan.  Growing up in Garland County as the youngest of four boys, Tracy learned very early on from his mom the impact of giving back and that has carried on with him his entire life.  If there is ever a need, Tracy will be the first one to ask what can he do to help and he has instilled that same compassion in his boys. Tracy and his wife Wendy have four boys and if you want to see a proud Papa, just ask him about his boys!  Tracy will be starting his 11th year this year as the host of The Morning Show and his 15th year color commentating alongside his broadcast partner Mark Oliver the Fountain Lake Cobra’s football broadcast right here on KVRE.   And if that wasn’t enough to keep him busy, Tracy also handicaps races during Oaklawn’s LIVE meet at 8:45 A.M. on his show Track Talk with Tracy.  In his spare time, Tracy loves to hunt and fish and spend time with his family and friends.

Scotty Mack

CO-HOST OF THE SCOTTY, POLLY AND KEENA SHOW / HOST OF MACK AT THE RECORD RACK/HOST OF MACK IN THE MORNING /  PRODUCTION MANAGER

After a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1967-1968, where he received a Purple Heart and a bronze Star, Scotty went to radio school in Memphis, TN where George Kline was his instructor.  He worked weekends for WHBQ for two years before moving back to Hot Springs.  After moving back, he worked at KGUS, KZNG, KXOW and now US97 in Hot Springs and for Cool 95 in Little Rock.

For the past 29 Years, Scotty has been the Production Manager at KVRE.  In addition to his production duties, he host the Scotty, Polly and Keena Show, Mack at the Record Rack and Mack in the Morning.  KVRE truly is the station of Mack!

Besides his duties at KVRE, Scotty is also an acclaimed DJ.  He started the T-Birds lounge at Coy’s Steak House in Hot Springs playing oldies music.  He then moved his oldies show to the Prime Rib Steak House.  After Prime Rib, he moved his oldies dance to The Sock Hop Lounge in the Holiday Inn on Lake Hamilton.  That’s where Don Holland, the owner of Boot Scooter Country Club, saw him and offered him a job doing his oldies dance show twice a month at Boot Scooters in the Royal Vista Inn before moving to a new building on Highway 270 west.  Scotty did the oldies dance for Boot Scooters for 14 years.  Scotty also was the Dj for the Little Rock Bop Club and Hot Springs Bop and Swing Club for 18 years.  He has also been a DJ for many major dance events in St. Louis, Memphis, Tunica, Cincinnati to name a few.

Currently you can find Scotty and his lifelong love Sue spinning the records for the Spa City Bop and Swing Club two Friday’s a month at the Barrett Center in Hot Springs.

John Chapman

HOST OF 40’S AT 4 / ANNOUNCER

Past experience includes college radio, TV, and KVRE on-air talent. John enjoys bicycling, history, archeology, and amateur radio. He participates in the Ouachita Chapter of the Arkansas Archeology Society and the HSV Amateur Radio Club.

Mark Oliver

CO-HOST OF FOUNTAIN LAKE FOOTBAL

Mark Oliver is an award-winning sports broadcaster and sportswriter from Hot Springs, Arkansas. Over the past 16 years, his voice has been heard across many platforms—spanning television, radio, print and online media throughout the United States.

A graduate of Mountain Pine High School, Oliver played second base for the Red Devils’ varsity baseball team and dreamed of a career in Major League Baseball.  While attending the University of Central Arkansas, Oliver discovered a new passion—sports broadcasting. His interest in radio quickly landed him a position at 91.3 KUCA FM, where he would lend his voice to UCA Bears baseball and basketball broadcasts. While at KUCA, Oliver co-hosted the station’s longest-running sports talk program, “The Sports Beat,” which covered national sports topics, UCA athletics, local sports teams and more.

After graduating from UCA in 2009, Oliver returned home to Hot Springs and began working at Noalmark Broadcasting, where he served as Production Director and on-air personality for 105.9 KLAZ FM and the play-by-play voice of Lake Hamilton High School baseball and softball. In 2010, Oliver became the play-by-play voice of Fountain Lake Charter High School football, where his unique, energetic style earned him the 2017 Sully Award for the best broadcast play call in Arkansas. Oliver and his color commentator, Tracy Simpson, can still be heard calling the Cobras each fall on 92.9 KVRE FM.

Since 2017, Oliver has served as Sports Information Director for National Park College in Hot Springs, providing play-by-play commentary and social media management for Nighthawk Athletics, as well as in-depth interviews, feature stories and other media content highlighting NPC’s many talented student-athletes across 11 sports.

Oliver lives in Hot Springs with his wife, Hanna, and his three sons Michael, Benjamin and River.

Donna Hoffmann

Donna most recently served as the Marketing Director for Good Samaritan Society of HSV and has an extended background in medical social services.  Having moved from Montana, she loves all things water here; boating, swimming, tubing, knee boarding. She also finds quilting an enjoyable and relaxing hobby.

Keith Haney

MARKETING CONSULTANT

Keith comes to us from his hometown of El Dorado, AR.  Keith and his wife Tina have three children.  Keith came to us with 15 years experience of broadcast sales for the local NBC/Fox affiliate in El Dorado.  Before coming to KVRE in January of 2022, he spent three years in boat sales at Futrell Marine in Hot Springs.  Keith and Tine enjoy spending their time with their three dogs and going on adventures with their three children.

Sharon Palmer

MARKETING CONSULTANT

Sharon is originally from Memphis, TN.  She received her degree in marketing and business science.  Sharon lived in Dallas for 12 years and worked at the Apparel Mart in Fashion Merchandising.  Moving to Hot Springs Village in 2005, she was asked by Tom and Polly to join the KVRE sales team. Sharon left for a time to be with her daughter and grandson in Georgia, but returned in 2019 and returned to the KVRE family.  Sharon enjoys spending time with her two children, her grandson and her family and friends in the Village.

Jack Friday Nichols

KVRE MASCOT

Jackson Brown, as we affecionatly call him, is the four legged member of the KVRE team.  He is Tom and Polly’s bundle of joy and Alice’s brother.  Any weekday you can find Jack running around the office getting all the attention and love he can get.  He keeps all of us in line and on track!
